REAL HORSE RESCUES TV Premiere Saturday, July 4th | 6 AM (EST) ON ABC-WTEN
Original Series Created by Susan Kayne Focuses on Equine Welfare

ALBANY, NY, July 2, 2015 – Real Horse Rescues, a 13-part weekly series, debuts Saturday, July 4th at 6 AM on ABC-WTEN. Each episode features once unwanted and slaughter bound horses, who are now shining in their new roles as teachers, healers, therapists, and competitive performance partners.  This will be the first time on network TV that viewers will experience the true stories behind redeemed horses.

“I wanted to create an educational and meaningful series for viewers, not only to learn about the serious welfare issues facing horses, but to bring visibility to our local equine rescues and sanctuaries as a community resource.” Kayne, creator and host of RHR, continued, “It is my hope to inspire viewers to discover the joy of horses for themselves, and to foster the public’s participation with these organizations.”

Kate Storey leads an Abram Lansing student on Opal
In the first show, Kayne visits Little Brook Farm in Old Chatham, NY. Lynn Cross, founder of Little Brook in 1977, her daughter Summer Brennan, and students on a field trip from Abram Lansing Elementary School in Cohoes, NY, share the spotlight. Hamlet and Opal, the equine stars, were both kill pen rescues.
New episodes of Real Horse Rescues' first season will air every Saturday at 6:00 a.m. on ABC-WTEN through September 26, 2015.

A bit about Real Horse Rescues ...

Real Horse Rescues (RHR) is an advocacy-driven, weekly TV + Web series wildly committed to changing the way horses are viewed and valued in today’s world. Created and hosted by lifelong horse lover and equestrian Susan Kayne, each episode shares meaningful conversations with people who work to save the lives of horses in peril.

RHR is produced for audiences of all ages, tapping into the universal and timeless love of horses. Most of the material presented is brand-new, informing about the challenges horses are facing in our country, coupled with the great joy they bring to those who rescue, rehome, and adopt. The more public understanding grows of the challenges and solutions, the healthier the equine community and economy will be for the future. The educational material in RHR is balanced with the majestic presence of horses, the thrill of rescue, and heart-warming tales of redemption.

Real Horse Rescues debuts its premiere episode on WTEN on Saturday, July 4th at 6:00 to 6:30 AM. New shows air each Saturday through the end of September. Extended interviews and features from the broadcasts will be posted online.

On May 13th we taped ... or rather 'carded' our first episode. No more tape stock in the digital world! We met and spoke with incredible people and their amazing horses ... Katrina Clay, Publisher of the Upstate Horse & Healing Springs Journal, Dr. Tracy Bartick-Sedrish of Upstate Equine Medical Center, Amanda Vance of North Country Horses and ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption, Joe Battaglia of Heading for Home: Racehorse Retraining/Adoption Center, and Saratoga's finest mounted patrol Officer King and Officer Voegler of NYS Park Police.  Here is a photo montage with sound bites, a teaser of what's to come this summer on ABC-WTEN:
